Kyushu University, Saibu Gas, and Japan Carbon Cycle Lab Begin Joint Study on CO₂ Utilization from City Gas Combustion Emissions

On March 4, 2022, Japan Carbon Cycle Lab, Inc. signed a joint agreement with Kyushu University and Saibu Gas Co., Ltd. to begin a collaborative study on the utilization of CO₂ contained in flue gas from city gas combustion. This initiative is based on the organizational partnership agreement signed between Kyushu University and Saibu Gas in November 2021.

The purpose of this joint study is to combine Saibu Gas’s expertise in the city gas business, Kyushu University’s academic knowledge, and Japan Carbon Cycle Lab’s technological capabilities to develop innovative CO₂ capture technologies essential for realizing a carbon-neutral society. Specifically, the study will evaluate and verify a full-cycle process—from capturing CO₂ emitted by gas appliances such as gas boilers, gas cogeneration systems, and gas heat pump air conditioners (GHPs), to converting and utilizing the captured CO₂.

Japan Carbon Cycle Lab will keep pushing forward with the commercialization of CO₂ capture and resource‑recycling technologies to help achieve an advanced carbon‑circulation society. We greatly value your continued support.
